As they grow in power, Dragons often find the world growing more hostile to them the more they exercise their power. Many dragons choose to secret themselves in lairs and work soley through catspaws in order to avoid such situations. As a Lesser Wyrm, you find acting openly having a more dramatic effect on your place in the world, bringing in more risk and more reward.

Your heat is tracked in a 0-5 scale.

Your heat increases due to the following. Witnesses include anyone who is not an ally who can see your action (whether they know what they are seeing or not). Heat can only be increased once per scene.

  • You use your dragon magic with witnesses.
  • You use a Feat of Scale with witnesses
  • As a potential complication effect.
  • As a potential botch effect
  • When you complete a Long Term Draconic Deed.

Effects of Heat

If you have more than 0 heat, replace a number of dice in your dice pool with Heat Dice. These dice count as a success on 7 or up. If your heat increases in a scene, the number of Heat Dice you roll increases accordingly.

If you roll a ‘1’ on any of your Heat Dice but your roll is a success, you create a Collateral Effect. If you roll at least a single ‘1’ and your Roll is a failure, you trigger a hunt. Your enemies have learned of your location and take action against you. (Note that this may be direct action such as pursuit, or action against your allies or assets)

Heat Stunts

If you succeed on a roll, you can spend any Heat Dice successes not spent on meeting the difficulty on Heat stunts.

Draconic Scale (1 Scale per 2s)

Your action counts as having Scale equal to +1 for every 2 successes spent on this stunt. This does not grant enhancement, but does count for the purposes of extra effects, increased damage, negating disadvantage.
Divine Effort (1 scale per 3s)
You grant yourself +1 scale for every 3s spent on this stunt for the rest of the scene. This scale applies to the type and sphere in keeping with the original task roll. For example, if you gained this stunt while lifting a heavy object, this grants Power Scale to Physical actions

Presence of Greatness (2s)

Choose one other character who witnessed your action. You grant them 1 Scale on their next action in the same vain as the one you just took.

Draconic Revelation (1s)

For each success spent on this stunt, reveal one clue per success in this or any future Procedural scenes.

Draconic Implement (2s)

You can grant a weapon, tool armor or vehicle an additional tag for the scene.

Wave of Power (1s)

You gain the Shockwave Tag a chosen type of action. Additionally, the Shockwave Stunt applies to all enemies in your immediate area.

Wonder and Awe (variable successes)

People or creatures observing you become enthralled by your displayof might. They become temporary Followers or Creatures with a rating equal to the successes spent on this Stunt. This effect ends at the end of the current scene. You can spend XP as usual to make these permanent.

Unchecked Abandon (2s)

You gain +4 Enhancement on your next roll, however always count as having rolled a 1 for the rest of the scene for the purposes of the collateral. (In addition to any 1s you roll)

Mysterious Ways (2s)

It is impossible to trace the results of your roll back to your actions.

Cosmic Retcon (3s)

The results of your roll result not only happen, but the very laws of the universe are rewritten to have always been true.

The Lands’ Stewards (2s)

Realms or polities you are connected to push themselves to be their best selves. Once per scene, this fulfills a Milestone for a procedural action as the people and land work to support you.

Loyal Service (2s)

Renown (2s)

Word quickly gets out of your accomplishments. The results of your action become public knowledge.

Change in the Air (1s)

Heat System +

Your Heat level remains the same until you take some action to change it.

The Cover-up

At the end of a scene in which your Heat increases, you can take an action, either on-screen or off-screen, to cover up your actions. The Difficulty is always at least equal to your current (increased) Heat level, but may be higher depending on circumstances. In the time between your Heat increasing, and your Cover-up action, your heat is considered higher for all purposes.

Scapegoat

Once per arc, you can sacrifice one of your Birthrights to lower your Heat by 1. Your Birthright becomes unusuable until the end of the Arc.

Lying Low

If you remain in your ‘Humble Human Guise’ over the course of an entire adventure, without transforming in any location except Realms or Lairs, your heat decreases by 1.

Scheme
