Memory vs. Purgation

Memory means not merely preserving the past, but also honoring it through means such as carrying on a fallen comrade’s quest or telling the tale of a great Deed. Purgation means letting go of what was to dictate what will be and write his own Fate, rather than simply treading the same path his previous Incarnation did in the distant past. Sometimes, it takes the form of innovation or forgiveness.
