With a mere touch you strengthen or weaken a metal item of your choosing. Strengthening metal can have a variety of effects: a lock becomes stronger, raising the difficulty to pick it; blades become sharper and blunt weapons denser, granting an extra weapon tag; metal used in crafting projects become superior, resulting in a finished product one Tier higher than intended. If this would put the item above the character’s Tier, it instead requires one less milestone to complete.
On the flip side, metal you degrade becomes inferior: blades are blunted, losing one weapon tag; jewelry loses its shine, becoming dull and boring; and chains become brittle and breakable. If used on a machine or other complex item, make a Knack Skill roll. Any successes add Complication to the next action to use the item. If not bought off, the item breaks when used. For example, using it on a gun could make the trigger brittle so it breaks when pulled, or warp the chamber, causing the bullet inside to backfire when shot. The Complication applies for a number of uses equal to your Legend/2(rounded up).
